Penguin World War 2 Promotion in Libraries
Reading Groups across the country are currently choosing six books to recommend to other readers in Penguin’s War Promotion in Libraries. The list includes Evelyn Waugh, Primo Levi, Penelope Lively and HE Bates. The groups have been asked to choose books that best represent what it was like to live through World War Two, which began 70 years ago this year. The list will be announced at the end of March.
Readers Group Convention organised by winners of 2007 Readers’ Group Prize!
Books on the Broad reading group are launching a new event for readers on April 4, 2009: The Readers' Voice: A Convention for Readers and Reading Groups.
The event, which will take place in Jesus College, Oxford, will promote the interests of reading groups and will explore the benefits they can bring to the wider community. The one-day Convention will include talks by 14 expert speakers, discussion forums, performance readings and workshop sessions and will be open to all at a moderate cost.
