biography

Philip Pullman was born in Norwich, England, on 19 October, 1946, and educated at Ysgol Ardudyw, Harlech, Gwynedd, then at Oxford University. Having taught at primary school for several years, he worked from 1988 to 1996 as a Senior Lecturer in English at Westminster College, Oxford.>

Phillip Pullman's Dark Material's Trilogy astounded the literary world, appealing to adults as well as children, by upholding the greatest traditions of storytelling. In 2001 Philip Pullman became the first children's writer to win the Whitbread prize, pushing the trilogy toward cult fiction status for both children and adults.
